Marine Corps Marathon – Washington DC

Three teams from 29 EOD and Search Group took part in the US Marine Corps Marathon as part of the Allied Forces Foundation ‘Carry a Comrade’ initiative. The teams are looking to break a number of Guinness World Records and raise money for Felix Fund. Major Iain Church will attempt to break the record for completing the 26.2 miles whilst wearing a bomb suit. Capt James Kelly, from 33 Engr Regt (EOD) will attempt the distance in a respirator and the team from 101 Engr Regt (EOD) intend to complete the marathon in helmet and body armour. Ball in memory of SSgt Brett Linley GM

The Arden Hotel, BirminghamAnne Linley and Trisha Flynn’s annual charity ball in memory of Anne’s son. SSgt Brett Linley GM, of 11 EOD Regiment RLC, died while trying to clear improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Afghanistan in July 2010. He was posthumously awarded the George Medal.

Skydive for Lisa

Captain Lisa Jade Head RLC was fatally wounded in April 2011, whilst dealing with a series of IEDs in Afghanistan. On Saturday 21 April 2012 members of Lisa’s family, her Brimstone EOD team and her friends remembered her with a day of skydiving. The sponsored tandem jumps took place at The Silver Stars RLC Parachute Centre, South Cerney, near Cirencester, followed by a party at Vauxhall Barracks. Baltic Exchange Dinner
12 April 2012
Hiscox Insurance generously sponsored a dinner to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the bomb which destroyed The Baltic Exchange in the City of London. The dinner, organised by Felix Fund, took place at the top of 30 St Mary Axe (‘The Gherkin’) on Thursday 12 April. Lord (Jeffrey) Archer conducted a charity auction during the dinner, to raise funds for bomb disposal experts who continue to combat Northern Irish terrorism.
