The Mothership: Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2021
More people have climbed Everest than have rowed an ocean. The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge is the premier event in ocean rowing. A gruelling 3,000 mile row from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean.
The Mothership Team are four busy, working mums, juggling careers, families and now this incredible challenge. Whilst each will be doing this for slightly different reasons, collectively they want to inspire their children and women of all ages, reminding them that the power of our gender has no limitations and no challenge is too great to overcome.
Setting out from The Canaries on the 12th December 2021 and hoping to reach Antigua within 45 days The Mothership are using the same boat that the Felix 5ive used in the 2019/20 race.
Fewer than 100 women have rowed an ocean as part of an all-female crew. Sylvia Cook was the first woman to successfully row an ocean, rowing the Pacific with several stop-offs over the course of nearly a year. 50 years on, The Mothership team want to build on that legacy and push the boundaries of female achievement.
Pippa, Felicity, Jo and Lebby will be raising funds for three charities one of which is Felix Fund. You can support their endeavours with a donation large or small at: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?userUrl=TheMothership&isTeam=true
