40 Days & 40 Nights: The Mothership completes the Atlantic Challenge

They did it!

The Mothership team arrived in Antigua on the 22 January 2022 40 days and 11 hours after leaving La Gomera in the Canaries.

Two years in the planning and 3,000 miles rowed, the four amazing women, Pippa, Felicity, Jo and ‘Lebby faced many challenges during the trip from attacks from flying fish, close contact with a Spanish naval vessel to their water maker stopping working as well as everything else the ocean and weather threw at them.

They spent Christmas alone in the middle of the Atlantic, keeping their spirits up with gifts from their families, a few Christmas tunes and even a dehydrated ration pack turkey dinner with all the trimmings, whilst not the merriest of Christmases they faced the challenges and got through them together.

Greeted at English Harbour, Antigua by their husbands and eleven children in total, plus friends and supporters it was an emotional welcome for The Mothership arriving as night fell.

Battered and bruised and struggling with sea legs the four were elated to arrive and to have beaten the Felix 5ive who competed in the 2019/20 event. An anonymous donor had promised a further sum of money to Felix Fund if they beat the boys, which was an added incentive.

There are many thank yous to share not least to Pippa, Felicity, Jo and Lebby but to their families, friends, and supporters and to everyone who donated towards their efforts.

Not only have they raised a substantial sum for their chosen charities, but they also raised the profile of the race and Felix Fund through a variety of media articles, not least featuring on Lorraine Kelly.

There is still time to show your support with a donation at: http://www.justgiving.com/mothershipfelixfund
